DOG HOUSES
Handmade wooden dog houses, nine sizes
From the 2XS Puppy to the 4XL Megatron, framed in T1-11 siding on a family pattern in Tignall, Georgia.
Chapter 01
Where a cheap dog house lets go
Most dog houses fail the same three ways. Rain drives in sideways through a door set dead centre. The floor sits right on wet ground and wicks water up until it goes soft. And the fasteners, usually staples, back out a little more with every hot day and cold night until a wall opens at the seam. None of it shows on the shelf. It shows up by the second summer.
Tignall sits in the part of Georgia where a July afternoon will cook a roof and a March storm will blow in at an angle. A house has to shrug off both. Those are the conditions the family patterns Barry learned from his elders have to stand up to, and the cheap shortcuts are the first things that quit.

How a Clark's house goes together
The walls are 5/8 inch T1-11 exterior siding, the grooved kind, which is why every house has that vertical rule down its face. The floor is 3/4 inch Advantex, and Advantex carries a 50-year manufacturer warranty. Pressure-treated legs lift the whole box off the ground so the floor stays dry from underneath.
Up top is an OSB roof deck under asphalt shingles that carry a 20-year warranty. Galvanized spiral nails and coated fasteners hold it together. A spiral shank bites into the wood and stays put, where a smooth staple slowly works its way back out through a few seasons of swelling and shrinking.
Then there's the door. It sits off to one side instead of in the middle, with an awning over it, so wind-driven rain has a hard time reaching the dog's bed. If you want to talk through any of the build, the shop line in Tignall is (706) 372-6294.
Chapter 03
Picking a size, from Puppy to Megatron
There are nine sizes, from the 2XS Puppy up to the 4XL Megatron. Measure your dog nose to rump and again at the shoulder, then pick the house where the dog can turn around and lie out flat without touching a wall. Bigger isn't always better. A house sized close to the dog holds body heat better than a barn does.
If your dog falls between sizes, or you need different dimensions altogether, ask. Custom dimensions are available on request. The houses are sold through 37 dealer locations across Georgia and the Carolinas, and you can order direct from the shop in Tignall too.
Two things travel alongside the houses. Doggie porches come in several sizes, and heavy-duty kennels are supplied as a 4x6 run or a 10x10 kennel. Each has its own notes below, so you can see what comes with the house and what's a separate piece.
Over 44 years of the same family pattern, sold through 37 dealer locations across Georgia and the Carolinas.
The size chart
Nine steps up the porch
Read it like a lumberyard tally. One end is the smallest house we make, the other is the biggest. Everything between is the same pattern, scaled.
Need something that isn’t on the chart? Custom dimensions are on request. See custom woodwork.

Doggie porches
A front porch built just for your dog
Some dogs would rather sit up and watch the road than curl up inside. A porch gives them a spot to do it, with a roof over their heads and a board floor under their paws.
Doggie porches come in multiple sizes, and the one pictured in the reel above shows a house sitting on a decked pavilion. Tell us what size dog and what size yard you have, and we’ll point you to the right one. They’re built with the same lumber and the same care as the houses.
Ask for one at your local dealer, or call the shop on (706) 372-6294.
