Pressure-treated wooden picnic tables, built in Tignall

From a 4-foot Child's Table to a heavy-duty 6-foot 5-board set, every one cut from 100% pressure-treated lumber.

Chapter 01

Why a yard table rots and wobbles

A picnic table lives about the hardest life a piece of wood can have. Rain lands on top of it, damp creeps up from the grass underneath, and the afternoon sun bakes whatever the rain left behind. Untreated boards go soft first at the feet and along the cut ends, and that is where a table starts to give up on you.

Then there is racking. A table that shifts side to side every time somebody sits down works its own joints loose, and a loose table is the one people quit trusting. Thick, heavy lumber and a sturdy frame slow that down, which is why we start where we start.

Every picnic table out of our Tignall shop is built from 100% pressure-treated lumber. Not just the legs. The whole table, tops and benches and braces alike, because the whole table sits out in the weather. That is the plain reason a Union series table can live on the grass and not on a covered porch.

The Union series, from a Child's Table to a six-footer

The Union series runs from a 4-foot Child's Table, sized for the little ones and a small patch of shade, up to a heavy-duty 6-foot 5-board set that a whole family can crowd around. Every size is cut from 100% pressure-treated lumber, so the small table gets the same lumber as the big one.

Which size is right depends on where it will sit. A corner of the deck, a backyard with a grill, and a spot under the oak all ask for different tables. Tell us how many people and how much room you have, and Barry will tell you plainly which one fits. Call (706) 372-6294 and talk it through.

We don't post prices for the tables, and we won't guess one from a photograph. Call the shop in Tignall, tell us the size you have in mind and whether it is for the kids or the whole crowd, and we'll quote you straight, the way we quote everything else.

Chapter 03

Delivery, and the tables that went to Tybee Island

Most of what we build reaches folks through our 37 dealers across Georgia and the Carolinas. Custom picnic tables come straight from the shop, and custom tables have traveled all the way to Tybee Island on the Georgia coast, a long way from our inland workshop.

Delivery depends on where the table is headed, so we sort it out by phone. The contact form asks for your preferred delivery method, and freight shipping is an option for orders that have a distance to go. Direct custom orders can be paid by PayPal or Zelle.

A table that sits outside all year deserves the same thinking as a porch swing. Our short piece on why pressure-treated wood matters for your porch swing is about the lumber, and every word of it applies to a picnic table too.

Tybee Island

Our workshop is in Tignall, nowhere near the water. Tybee Island is on the coast. A custom picnic table made that trip, and somebody took a picture of it standing proud under the island's own sign.

Salt air and coastal damp are hard on wood, and a table headed there needs lumber that can stand it. That is the job pressure-treated lumber was made for.
