THE LINEUP · PORCH ROW
Porch swings, benches and Adirondack chairs
Built strong in Tignall, Georgia and designed to last the rest of your life, from top-choice lumber.
Chapter 01
Why a swing has to be over-built
A swing is the one piece of porch furniture that moves under load every time somebody sits on it. Weight shifts, chains tug, and a grown adult, a kid and a dog can all land on the same boards at once. A bench can get by being merely sturdy. A swing has to be stronger than it looks, because every sway works its joints a little.
Our line on these is that they are built strong and designed to last the rest of your life. We build them in Tignall from top-choice lumber, to the same family patterns we use for the dog houses, because a pattern that has been handed down through generations has already had its mistakes found and fixed.

High-back swings, benches and Adirondack chairs
The porch row runs high-back swings, porch swings, benches and Adirondack chairs, including an Adirondack with a footrest for the ones who intend to sit a spell. Everything is cut from top-choice lumber in our Tignall shop and put together by hand.
Flower boxes come off the same lumber pile, so the planter beside your swing doesn't have to look like it came from a different shop. If you want a size or a style you don't see here, ask. We get asked for custom work often, and our custom woodwork page shows the kind of thing that has left the shop.
Call (706) 372-6294 and describe the porch. Tell us how many people sit on it and how much wall or beam you have to hang from, and Barry will steer you toward the piece that fits. We would rather ask a few questions on the phone than have you guess at a size.
Chapter 03
Care, and how to see one in person
Wood outside does best where water can run off it and air can move around it. A swing under a porch roof lives an easier life than one in open sun and rain, and the lumber matters either way. Our short piece on why pressure-treated wood matters for your porch swing goes into the lumber side of it.
To look a piece over, the workshop at 6139 Elberton Rd in Tignall takes visits by appointment. Call ahead at (706) 372-6294, tell us which piece you want to see, and come out to the shop. That beats judging a swing from a screen, and it lets you put your hand on the lumber.

Pull it left to right, the way you'd walk down a porch.
Scroll sideways, or tab to the strip and use your arrow keys. Some of these are customer and shop photos, so the light and the yards change from one to the next.
